Gratuity Calculator: Gratuity Calculator Formula | How to Calculate Gratuity For Private Sector Employees
Earlier we mentioned a gratuity calculator formula, now we will learn about one more gratuity calculator formula and how to calculate gratuity for private-sector employees.
Gratuity calculator formula 1
n*b*15 / 26
Here “n” will be the duration of time services are provided to a company.
“B” will be the last drawn basic salary in addition to the dearness allowance.
Now, let’s understand it through an example, say, an employee has worked with an ABC company for the duration of 15 years. While the last drawn salary, which is a basic salary and dearness allowance is Rs 30,000.
Then the gratuity amount payable to an employee will be Rs 2,59,615 as calculated using the gratuity calculator formula, i.e., 15 * 30,000 * 15 / 26.
To be noted -
- In accordance with the Gratuity Act, the amount of gratuity can not be more than Rs 20 lakh, thus if your gratuity amount exceeds this mentioned value, then the exceeded amount will be treated as e-gratia.
- For instance, if you have worked in a company for the duration of 15 years and 7 months, then this duration will be rounded off to 16 years. However, if the duration is 15 years and 4 months, then it will be rounded off to 15 years.
Gratuity calculator formula 2
This Gratuity calculator formula is applicable to employees whose employer is not covered by the Gratuity Act, if that’s the situation, then the gratuity amount will be calculated depending on the half month of the salary on each completion of the duration of service. The Gratuity calculator formula is -
15* last drawn salary* tenure/ duration of working / 26
Suppose, the salary of the concerned employee is 50,000 while the duration of which he/she has provided the service is 8 years, the gratuity payment received by the employee would be 2,30,769 as per (15 * 50,000 * 8) / 30.
Conclusion
Understanding all aspects of the gratuity calculator, including who is eligible to receive it and who is not, is not quite complex. However, rather than simply referring to it as a payment, we would refer to it as an award for serving a company for such a long duration, considering that it is only payable to those employees who have worked with a company for the duration of at least 5 years or more.
