Indian Standard 302, Part 2, Section 201 includes specifications regarding the safety of households and similar electrical appliances particularly electric immersion water heaters.

This Indian Standard was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards, after draft finalization by the Safety of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances Sectional Committee, which had been approved by the Electrotechnical Division Council. 

However, Indian Standard 302, Part 2 Section 201, does not include performance requirements.

Scope of Product of IS 302, Part 2, Section 201

This Indian Standard includes safety requirements and specifications for portable electric immersion heaters for household and similar purposes, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V.

Moreover, applications that are not intended to be used for usual household purposes, although, which nevertheless might be a source of danger to the public, such as appliances intended to be used by laymen in shops, in light industry, and on farms, are within the scope of Indian standard.

To date, Indian Standard 302, part 2, Section 201 covers the common hazards presented by appliances, which are encountered by all persons in and around the Horne.

2. Acceptance test

Acceptance test includes the below-mentioned test -

3. Marking and instructions

The appliances must be immersed partially in water for cleaning and shall be marked with the maximum level.
